I would like to share my 5 year-long bucket list project that I recently finished, finally!
Like running the New York City Marathon for the first time to raise money for the students at Walter Panas High School when I became principal, writing a book has been a challenging experience but rewarding one at the same time. No, I did not get bloody blisters on my toes nor walked like a zombie for two full days, this was a different type of challenge.
Writing stories about your life experiences is not an easy task and then publishing a book is an entirely different matter - all the revisions, re-edits, re-re-edits, it was a never-ending process. However, in the end it was all worth it!
The title of the book "I Touch the Future, I Teach" comes from Christa McAuliffe, a teacher and astronaut killed in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in 1986 - the same year when I became a biology teacher in New York City. For me, the quote has served as an inspiration and motivation for the past thirty-four years.
I have truly enjoyed my educational journey!
